I quite like the obvious design flaws on this one

I tweaked micce's hilarious failure into a terrible solution: http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=130206

Maybe not the "worst" solution, but certainly not optimal

My so-so tube climber. Actually slips down a few times before getting a grip.

Those are simply amazingly ridiculous. Good work indeed. :D

Umm, I hope these links all work properly, because they are only sometimes working for me.

For Four Balls, I had the idea of a conveyor belt, but I hadn't ever looked through other people's designs at that point and didn't know that other people were already doing that, so I didn't know how to do it. I made the main part of it, with the row of clockwise wheels. Unsurprisingly, it didn't work. So, instead of redesigning it, I decided to just keep adding things until it worked. When the rotating platforms idea didn't work, I tried to get it to shoot them out of the end with anticlockwise wheels. Twenty minutes later, I ended up with this piece of junk:

This one might not look too strange, but I was actually trying to make a catapult:

This one is my favorite among my failed designs.
It is a champion. It really shouldn't be.

While talking about that level:
My first ever solution to Around the Bend is here:
http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=123850
I had never thought to try running two wheels in opposite directions like that, and it happened by accident when I forgot to build part of the structure. So I got rid of the structure, left the collapsing wheels, and it worked.
I haven't seen anybody else use that mechanic of running paired opposing wheels. Possibly it's useless? Does anybody else use it?

My first ever Handling solution is really quite awful:

It wobbles, but the real silliness is when it gets stuck at the end and slowly inches its way towards the goal.

I kept adding pieces and told myself it'll work eventually. I figured if it didn't sling up my thing would eventually pile up high enough to get the pink block in :D

Glitches

Postby Quazwrath on Sun Aug 03, 2008 7:50 pm

I was trying to make one that moved with only neutral wheels, powered by a secluded engine. But after I put the dome around it, everytime I click start, it collapses and the wall rushes into it. But, it DOES make it if you click start, wait a second, hit the space bar, wait a second, and hit the space bar again.

I have seen others use the 'paired opposite wheels' before. I'm fairly certain it is effective as long as there is some solid contact.

A huge mess of rods and wheels, it actually does what it's supposed to but took me a loong way to get there. There's even a rod falling out at the start, no clue where that one's coming from!

As a sidenote...

It's actually possible, lookies. Not a solution that actually belongs to this thread here tho I think, sorry :(

A failed attempt that somehow worked in the end.
