Ads: Part II

Well folks, we crunched all the numbers.

Registered users only make up around 1% of our users (I think it's more like 0.5%, but IPs change and it gets hard to track). But after looking at all the data, it seems that the registered users use up a whopping 10% of the server resources. A registered user makes 10x as many pageviews and level load requests, and bunch of other strain on the server.

:toot: But we decided to remove ads anyway! :toot:

We are getting the code moved into place ASAP and the registered users will no longer see ads! (please give it a bit - we have to make changes to the flash and the HTML to make it work right)

Thanks so much for the loyal fanbase who has stood strong through this longer-than-it-should-have-been ordeal. We'll have some exciting things in store to make up for it soon, I swear. :)

Cool. I'll wait til the ads are gone, then apply to get the block taken off at school. The kids were pretty miffed at me that we didn't get to design today.

Thanks weasel, that IS great. . . or should it be . . . that is GREAT . . . or . . . lol. I guess it stands to reason that those who have paid will use FC much more - it is interesting to see how much.

Yay, I am glad, I have all of them blocked in my AdBlocker+ anyway but it still tries to load them and my point goes into working mode and it annoys me. Just a little.

MANY folks would also like to see the return of the Fantastic Contraption Resource. Please allow those tools to be reactivated for paying users. Playing the game through FCR vs. the traditional interface is like choosing between efficient computer based tools vs. paper and crayons . . .

Unfortunately, the ads were not the reason FCR was discontinued, but the involvement with inexile entertainment. Also, weasel has no control over FCR.
