I can't get my canyon below a 20. I am itching to see other people's designs there so they can show me up, but it seems utterly impossible. Most likely because I can't figure out a worthwhile green solution. I thinks it's just impossible to do it efficiently without at least two powered wheels.

It's definitely not impossible.

The only thing in Canyon that is impossible is a water badge. Green and or brown are definitely possible. Going much below 300 tick counts will be very difficult but not impossible.

My best guess on the best possible score on Canyon is going to be about a 9. That would require 10 rods, no wheels and a sub 300 tick count. And no, that's not my score...

my ticks are 295, and that is about as perfect as I get get it. I just can't figure out how to go green without losing efficiency. Ah well. Whatev.

I never mentioned pixels. Pixels are the problem, they are all we have to go by. The game itself doesn't give a flip about pixels, it uses a Cartesian coordinate system. You think in terms of pixels because that is all you see on the screen, but let me assure you, there aren't any little elves stacking pixels and knocking them over on the other side of the screen. There is actual mathematics going on behind the scenes, and every point in every contraption has an exact abscissa and ordinate (x and y coordinate) stored in a variable.

All I'm suggesting is that we be given access to that value so that we might more easily modify our contraptions. I'm not suggesting any modifications be made to the game that would change its operation in any way. We already define the points of our contraptions and are free to adjust them at will. Having access to the actual coordinate values of the points would merely aid us in making those adjustments.

I thought I'd use pixels since that's a popular term with this game. "Pixel-tweaking" may soon become the next big thing! Yes, it is simply a Cartesian coordinate system...but it's at 15 digits. That's another one of those really big numbers that is bigger than a billion. If they made it less precise, then the uber-tweakers would be very unhappy. If they kept that level of precision and let you input coordinates directly...well, I'm not entirely sure what would happen, but I'm sure there are at least a few bad things.

Eh, I take it all back. I want coordinate input boxes!

I've got to agree with rtwileyrc:
8-point tick count and 5 sticks in each hole for a 9 as the lowest possible, but I don't see how even that is done.

I haven't seen a sub-300 green time or (I think) any 5-stick combos that work, let alone all 3 together.

But...I'm looking forward to seeing some.

I'd really appreciate if anyone could explain this to me...as I said the pieces appear to me to be moving by increments greater than one pixel, and if I delete a contraption and build it again exactly the same it behaves exactly the same way, meaning it must have the exact same coordinates (and I'm talking the hyper-sensitive kind of contraption - the ones that will go to ♥♥♥♥ if you stare at them hard enough)

I am quite certain that there are a few people with negative scores. And there is still over a week to tweak.

is anyone else really annoyed that:

a) you know you won't win;
b) you've done some WORD FILTERED-hot solutions which will look stone-age when the winners are revealed;
c) you still have to wait a week for your total humiliation.

I know I thought below 20 was impossible when I started...
Now, I have made it to 10 (!) and can see at least another 4 points (my Gate Keeper is really bad 6sticks/282ticks!)
and more at most another 4 (if I spend my entire life tweaking).

I guess when I see someone with 2 or less I will be impressed.
And I won't be surprised if all the winner are negative.

Tweaking is getting really boring, so apart from trying to find a better Gatekeeper solution I am done/worn out.

if you know anything about algebra... it should be 'dropped x sticks' and 'lost y points', enless you lost the same amount of sticks as pts.-in-ticks (x=y) then they both can't be x
