In r1, is the loser of the matchup eliminated? Does the winner get color points?

Wow this round is even more confusing than the qualifier. I don't know whether I should be tweaking for ticks or pieces, or whether I should be going for hands-off sweep or not in order to get a lower piece/tick count!

Can you please just tell me what I should do? Like the optimal solve? And the primary scoring method for the bracket? You really need to simplify it. It's like when some other person made a competition which was like piece count, ticks, magnum and hap all in 1 round, just not quite as complicated.

1. The winner of the matchup would be the one with the lowest pieces.
2. The lowest ticks out of ALL the solves will get an extra color points.
3. If you DO get the Color Point, your piece count will be divided in half.

Still unclear. Let me try an example. Let's say I achieve the nonchamp in 5 pieces and I do not get the HO nor the sweep.
My opponent uses 11 pieces to get the nonchamp and the HO and the sweep. He gets to divide his score in half thus achieving 5.5 and he gets the color badge, but I beat him 5 to 5.5 so he is out. Is that correct?

I changed the rules because with brackets, those who do get the :handsoff:

will be at a disadvantage in the pair-up if the other person solves w/o :handsoff:
