After I posted my design, I was wondering if ghost pieces count as checkpoints.
They are 'dynamic' pieces, even if they don't move.

This says that the checkpoints can pass through the ghost pieces, suggesting that they are in separate groups.

I just think by the way the OP is written that the ghost pieces are not counted as checkpoints.
