what took ya (and what's taking you) so long ;) ?

I can't cut any points without clean-slating. Bet there's still a few out there.

"slow and steady" sounds nicer than "relentless" ;)

I'm up on you again (momentarily).
But you're shooting at a stationary target. I've wrung all from 'em I can.

Look forward to seeing if/what I missed and seeing everyone's stuff.

I'll keep this update short and to the point. Compy and Cruiser are tied and the optimal score has not been reached!

Yea, I'm close to another point, but I don't play on the weekends so nice job Compscure. I'll post that design after the comp is over.

Fun levels ID36.

I bet everybody claimed champ on Gobstopper. But look closely at the goal. See the border peaking out from behind the wall on the right? That means if you just left the ball sitting against that wall, it's not actually in the goal. Here's a design to illustrate:

http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=12015433

So, how many players actually managed to champ it? And will this detail affect the final standings?

I claimed champ. I didn't even notice the goal border was showing. I am curious, at what point is the goal piece is now longer in the goal? The Darker line of the goal (against the green static wall) is thinner than the border line around the goal piece which makes it look like it is in.

Thanks

Results are up! I know there was a delay posting these but I after the hard work everyone put into solving and resubmitting updates, I felt it was unfair to judge the winner on ticks and so I planned to add a tiebreaker level on Sunday but when it came to the day, I had no time. I will post the tiebreaker level on Monday so that Compscure and Cruiser can go for one last head to head round.

Thanks again to everyone who participated and if there are any mistakes in the scoring, please let me know.

Final point regarding an issue of champ that id_monkey raised, I counted champ because there are some faulty game mechanisms - especially with rectangular goal pieces. If it solves the level and goalpiece appears within the darker border of the goal, I always consider that to be champ.

Man, some nice solves. Really cool the crusher pulled a champ coin toss with the :dcircle:

I think there's some confusion with the scoring though (sorry to be that guy)
I don't think cruiser's :brown: solves are brown under ID36 scoring (brown sticks only) like they would be under most hap type scoring. Under this system :unconnected: is the equivalent of the old :brown: badge ( :waterrod: and :woodrod: only) and :brown: is basically the "carpenter" equivalent of :water: , right?

Doesn't really matter for Gobstopper (a brown stick would work there), but it changes Cranium to :green: :unconnected: :boomerang: :sweep: for a score on the level of -6.

Please lemme know if the scoring confusion is on my end.

Oh, well spotted. You are correct, compy; I overlooked that when verifying the scores.
In that case, compy wins on points rather than ticks. Congrats!

I guess there's no reason now to make a tiebreaker level so that brings the comp to a close.
Thanks again to everyone who entered. My next comp will use a different scoring mechanism.

Oh, I did miss that difference in brown scoring. My bad to have missed that. It would have been nice for ID36 to have caught it though being that it was his scoring method so that I could have redesigned it like this:

http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=12016358

Well done regardless Compscure, very nice solves.

Yeah, man, sorry it ended on that note.
Tweaking that thing down was craaazy. But if someone was gonna get it to -10 with sticks only, my money'd be on you.

Right about the same time ID posted the last scoring update friday night, I deleted a drop weight stick off one of mine and with no retweaking got this:
http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=12016496

It hits the ball in a little over 150. The left side is not as bad as it looks. It might be possible but I didn't have the time Saturday either to dive down that rabbit hole again.

Thanks for hosting and some nice levels ID36.

Fun comp! Too bad I didn't have more time to tweak my designs.
I also just realized, my total score should be -22, I must have updated the designs in the PM but forgot to update the total score. Sorry!
Also, while trying to make a respectable design for Cranium, I came across this which I thought was amusing: http://fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=12015208
Great solves everybody, I cant wait until the next comp!

High five id_monkey for being the only other one to truly champ Gobstopper!

nice solves id_monkey.
that'd give it to ya with a champ strip on gobstopper.
I was playing around with mine just now trying to get the prop piece over there and replicated a no-solve "champ"--
http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=12017276

I wonder if the truly optimal solve for cranium probably has a left pult like yours and cruisers and not mine with its extra piece.
