Ha, I had no idea that deep :srect: was even there. How long has that been lurking down there?
I went overhand thru as well.

Apparently, you started it.
It first shows up in 623960 on Jan 1. (first StaticRect) Then it moves around a bit.
Paleo moved it to (1186.9, -247.45) in 624172
It seems id_monkey rotated it from 625264 to 625314 (see extended wireframe)
That is, from (1186.9,-247.45) to (-247.45,1186.9).

Final answer- since Feb 10th.
But it's been around a lot.

Actually, that one's my edit as well. I shifted Paleo's level 300 whatevers to the right in my edit. This bumped that piece off the screen, where it stayed for a week or two.

Yep. I swapped x and y values for inspiration, then moved a few pieces to finish my edit. (I didn't mess with the rotation values because that would have required actual work.) I had forgotten that the hidden piece was there, and off-screen on the right became really-off-screen at the bottom.

Once I realized it was down there, I started looking for opportunities to use it. It's rather hard to build on something that far off-screen.

Anyway, here's an otherway on mine: http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=12018336

You did that by hand?
I was wondering if you got the transforms to work.
