Solutions that are both FAST + SIMPLE at the same time

Hi all,

In this earlier thread on "Simplest Solutions" you guys have some incredibly genius designs. Now, they are not always fast though ... so this made me think, there must be some sweet balance between speed and simplicity. (I wish the game had a stopwatch/timer to measure how long it takes to reach the goal, and also count the pieces)

It is simple. Yes. ... but it is not fast ;-)

Right now the search is for both simple AND fast at the same time.
(I think there is a thread for "Fastest" and there is a thread for "Simplest" ... but I haven't seen a thread for both combined )

It is amazing ... the inventiveness and creativity in this game ... how our minds work and so many different, but equivalent, ways of solving a problem !

I've been thinking, the requirement of "Fast+Simple" is kind of vague and we need some sort of tangible way to evaluate it. What do you guys think would be a decent formula ?
-Should we put a cap and say no more than 15 pieces (or some other number) ?
-Should we assign point weights to each piece (like in the Haphazard competition) ?
-Should we Use a formula like: TotalTime+NoOfPieces ? (lowest is better)
-Should we use a formula like: TotalTime+TotalPoints ? (using point weights for each piece)

I am kind of leaning towards the last one ... what do you think ?

I agree that some method for calculating score is in order. I like the last as it is comprehensive.

The only problem is the actual timing of it all. How I wish there was a stopwatch in the game!

We will soon be getting a stopwatch feature ... so this thread will have more meaning at then.
