Aim, Fire!

Postby peterattheboro on Wed Sep 03, 2008 7:05 am

Hey there.

Made a level like this ages ago but it was too easy. So made it a little bit harder.

I'd like to see the different designs to throwing :)

My solution.

That's quite easy too :(

Well, it isn't throwing so much as rolling, but anyway:

Even if meant for catapult solutions, it's too easy to solve with a simple car: http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1245927

Maybe add some low obstacles along the path to discourage cars if you want to see some nice pult designs.

I think the idea is that you exercise some willpower and avoid making a car. :P

LOL, yep. I'm so bad at catapults that I haven't solved it yet.

I'm with you Dataman, I can make a catapult but I can't really do much with it.

Normally I hate making catapults, but I'm just loving this brown catapult design - it's so versatile!

That thing is amazing it has sooooo much more power.

I would imagine it is using less pieces than a wheel catapult too.

I think you may be right. Doing the math, I found that a catapult of comparable power (13 wheels - I'm not sure that the power is actually comparable but you can't go any higher without black-holing) would use about 80-90 pieces, whereas the brown catapult uses 60-70 (50-60 of which are for weight).

Who ever built this game, I bet they had no clue what it would turn into. We've made more machines and mechanisms and locks and doors and arms than the original creater probably never expected to ever be made. Hell even chain was probably something the original people never thought of.

OK, solved it finally. Nothing special about my pult. http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1278619
