Postby Hero88go on Thu Apr 15, 2010 8:48 pm

I guess its about time I make a post about this.

I have been making the "Dreamer" levels for a few months now just editing the same level over and over, having my little "Dreamer Crowd" on FC.
Heh.

New level: Distiled Dreamer.

And I want your guyes opnions on this:

The dreams are getting a bit offtrack and switching level designs..

I was thinking about [and have already made a few] a second dreamer series.. with squares.

Here is the concept:
Dreamer II http://fantasticcontraption.com/?levelId=531711
Lucid Dreamer II http://fantasticcontraption.com/?levelId=531717

Squares are my second favorite goal peice shape :) they just don't roll the same lol. usually with squares i need to make extra pults to get them positioned right. A few levels with squares can't hurt tho. As far as the level designs go, my two faves are avid dreamer and day dreamer, i'm having a tough time figuring out why. I think its because they are fairly open ended levels, they have big build areas, and they are also pretty easy, I don't usually like really hard levels, they always have very canned solves. Also they can be solved in a wide variety of ways, because there is less clutter in the build areas, they are just open, nothing protrudes into the build area. Hmm..that still dosen't quite explain it... I guess its just metaphysical :)

I love the dreamer series, keep making more levels. I'm still working on the last two levels, but I've beaten all the others (when I was thedrsplash) expect for the second one.

Why don't you post any solves from thedrsplash?

It took me so many tweaks to get the ending part right.

I normally prefer balls but squares every once in a while can be fun, so I think it's a good idea. Although, I would suggest making long and skinny rectangles instead of those squares because they would be a lot easier to maneuver. It's easier to balance them on the end of an arm and make them roll by flipping them over.
