I ran through a few different ideas in my head including this one. I also thought of giving the losers a level to have 24 hours to solve, and the winner getting to face compscure with the remaining time.
But since I hadn't stated it in the rules to start the comp, it would have been really unfair to compscure. I doubt he would have minded, but the seeding was entirely random and he got a lucky draw.
In the future (if people want another comp like this) I will institute one of the above methods in the case of a double no entry.
