Seriously, let's get back to impossible questions, after all, these questions are supposed to be impossible.

you have an unlimited supply of water.

you need exactly 4 gallons of water.

3. get the 3gal bucket full again
4. spill as much water to the 5gal bucket as you can (1 gallon of water left in the 3gal bucket)
5. empty the 5gal bucket
6. spill the remains of the 3gal bucket to the 5gal bucket
7. fill the 3gal bucket
8. spill it to the 5gal bucket
