I guess if we are going to pick apart the rules, then this one should be okay. I built behind the yellow line, (nothing said that a part of my contraption couldn't hang past the yellow line). Just like there was no rule that said you couldn't build a contraption totally out of water rods and make your ball hide behind the platform...

there is a rule that has a purpose of keeping your contraption on one side of the line. also, it says build your contraption behind the yellow line, the rod is part of your contraption therefore it must be built behind the line.
no rule is put in place to prevent my contraption from falling behind the contraption, no matter how you look at the wording. so mine

I could just put nothing on the ball and win because I would still be on top and you would be oof the side, but that breaks the spirit of the competition, just like you contraption does.

Read the rules carefully:
How to win:

- Contraption can have as many pieces as needed.
- No blocking goal.
- Get opponent's ball to fall off the edge. It does not matter which side it falls down into.
