The Zombie War

Postby zhyrek on Mon May 31, 2010 11:51 am

Due to the mostly death of FC (And Montego001's suggestion), I have decided to bring back an old favorite from my FC Youth.

THE ZOMBIE WAR

Level: http://fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=8297727 Maximum piece count for humans: 10 of each rod and 3 of each wheel (29 total). Piece count for zombies: 12 of each rod and 4 of each wheel (36 total).
(And i might happen to add more levels, so you can choose from any to do your new human defense :D)

Here are the rules

OfficiallyHaphazard wrote:Here is how it will work. I will present you guys with a level. The humans will have a certain amount of time to build and submit a defense (in the human build area) to protect a goal item from being pushed into the goal (i.e. to prevent the victory sign). After the humans have submitted, I will post all of their designs here. Now it is the zombies turn. A zombie can pick any human fortification and attack it (from the zombie build area). Zombies are only allowed to use the same pieces as the human (with some basic minimums, explained below) If you manage to trigger the victory screen before 1000 ticks, then you get a kill and knock the human out. This victim will become a zombie during the next round. If multiple zombies attack the same human then the zombie that gets the human first (lowest ticks) is the one that scores the kill.
This will progress until there are no more humans left. Humans build to the left of the water rod, zombies to the right of the dynamic.

Humans:
You will build a design that attempts to protect the red ball from entering the goal (i.e. prevent the victory sign from appearing). You may not touch the goal ball.
(Added by Zhyrek for clarification) You may not block the ball from rolling into the goal (It must have a clear path there). "You may not touch the goal ball" means BOTH no touching it with your design or connecting to it, AND no moving the goal ball.
(Added by Zhyrek for fairness) Humans have a maximum of 40 pieces to avoid black holing and using too many pieces to begin with.
Zombies:
Once I post the list of human defenses, pick one and attack it. You can only use the same number/type of pieces that the human you are attacking uses.
Furthermore, you get a minimum allotment of [2 of each wheel] and [5 of each stick]. (Edit by Zhyrek) The number of pieces that you get will be defined per level for fairness
(Edit by Zhyrek) Human maximum piece count is self explanatory. Zombie piece count means that you are allowed to use that many piece for ANY defense, regardless of the number of pieces the human used.
Remember, you have to get the kill in less than 1,000 ticks.
(Added by Zhyrek for clarification) No glitches. Whatsoever. This includes phasing of ALL types (for now...), explosive wheels, and Black holes.

Here's an example zombie solve, in case you dont get it: http://fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=8362862

Because this is a quickie, and no submits will be submitted, here is your post format
Zombie kill to previous Human Defense
New Human defense

Now, as long as there are no glitches and you follow the rules, ANYTHING GOES. (Although i might have missed something, and i might update this periodically)
And yes, there are several unbeaten defenses for this. ;)

Ill make the rules extra clear, so that this doesn't happen again (hopefully).

i kind of wish we could phase :/ but whatever.

i feel like with phasing you have more things to defend, because mine will be pretty damn hard without phasing. or so i think.

Due to seeming unfairnesses, the zombie piece limit will be increased to assist in attacking...
Because of these types of defenses: http://fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=10850620

if we allowed phasing, than that wouldnt be an issue?
just my two cents.

well if you dont want to, its your thread. im sure using a new piece limit would work just as well, if not better.
