iPod Touch / iPhone Update

Postby weasel on Wed May 27, 2009 10:43 am

We've just submitted a patch to Apple! Depending on how long they take to approve it (2-6 days usually) you should be able to update FC. Fixes:

:waterrod: Updated the Online screen so it won't crash even if the server is having trouble.
:waterrod: “My Designs” and “My Levels” menus now split up designs and levels in groups of 50 (just like the online screens). This prevents the game from crashing if you have lots of items saved.
:waterrod: Added the ability to edit levels you’ve already created.
:waterrod: Fixed a bug causing the “See other users’ solutions” and “Rate” buttons to show up on the “Next Fifty” and “Previous Fifty” buttons.
:waterrod: Added a “More Games” button.

Thanks to all your bug reports and submitted screenshots we were able to make this happen. Hopefully this will make the iPhone version much easier to use!

Just wanted to repost this question for you:
tes753 wrote:What do you think about a link system similar to the PC version. Basically, the user sends a email saying "Check out my contraption here!" or something like that. I know that this is possible becasuse Tap Tap Revenge 2 and Topple 2 have these features. (I can elaborate more if needed)

Unless it's a straight port from flash or iPhone, not anytime soon. Just not a very big market for it.

It sounds like a good system!

I doubt it would be implemented. ;)

Cool. Another reason to implement this is because you could get more money from the iPhone users that don't have the app, yet their friends do. You could add a link to the iTunes page so they can buy it if they don't have it.

I hit the quote button on that post.
On Topic: Weasel, the update hasn't come out yet. Has Apple contacted you or inXile about the update's progress through the approval progress? (You should post an update or something on the app's description)

tes753: Apple doesn't provide status updates - you submit, and when it goes through they notify you. 2 to 30 days wait, typically 6 days is what happens. If they have a busy time it doesn't go through as quick.

Things probably slowed down recently because of apps like "baby killer" making it through the submission process so they're probably super-testing everything for hidden content.

I know that. (I'm a developer in the iPhone OS SDK) Sometimes, Apple will tell you why the update hasn't ben aproved yet (icon needs to match with icon in iTunes Store, description needs to change, ect.) I stil think that you need to post something in the description that lets non-forum users know that an update is coming.

Part of the update package is the accompanying text to the page- once the patch goes live the page should update too.
