Impossible Challenge-Unsolved Mysteries Redux -1/17 Update!

Postby jdelgado06 on Thu Jul 02, 2009 12:54 pm

So I was recently digging through the old, famous, "Unsolved Mysteries Thread," reminiscing and all that...

I remembered a small section on the OP lists the levels that the community had, at the time, deemed impossible. With lots of newer absolutely awesome FC players emerging, and the fact that most of these challenges were completed quite a long time ago, I thought it might be worth another look with a fresh thread.

I'd call this a stunning success if we, as a community, were able to solve any of these levels:

Ok! The first one, all we need is a trigger and an initial thrower.

Possibly a trigger like this (incredibly unrefined)

Some of the best times were from that thread. Kalma + Entity and others == amazingness.
If anyone can beat E...
Edit: on second thought, E looks a bit more plausible than how I remember it... but still quite hard.

that's what prompted me to start this thread... none of them really seem "obviously impossible."

My original idea:

http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=8471352

Not nearly as good... I couldn't get it to stand straight, and I doubt that is possible...

Edit: You wanna update the OP?

I would LOVE to see bookshelf, it would make my day :) (It looks like it really is impossible though)

Corners is defenitly possible and amazing defenitly isn't!
The start of Under Over Up is easy ( http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=8473718 ) but I can't get something big enough through to do the last part.

edit: I got a small cart through. http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=8473738

I just got a great idea for this. What if there was a comp where everyone was split onto two teams, and the levels would be unsolved levels? It would both encourage collaborating and the spirit of a competition would strive people on to do better than normal.

Bookshelf is impossible. One of the goal pieces is to small to fit in the goal.

http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=8598828 I think you guys were over-complicating it. Lets start tweaking that pult trigger :)

http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=8599094 Heres a second machine to get over the wall. It seems to be a bit easier to tweak

http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=8599220 I'm not having much luck tweaking the trigger.

It might not even throw it far enough, but here is a tweak I made:

Two Clockwise wheels, so it runs faster.
