Mechanism Library

Postby halfmaster1 on Sun Dec 05, 2010 4:10 pm

I decided to make a library on all the basic mechanisms, like parralelovators and such. I'll put designs that someone has dissected (ripped down to the simple mechanism). Feel free to post your own.

Really basic:

All the simple pults, and powered type things, which I'm to lazy to make.

Complex
Not really complex, but more so than really basic.

11298876 :brown:
Variation of: none
Notes: none
Original design: halfmaster1
Dissection: halfmaster1
Use: retrieval, boomerang extender
Designs: halfmaster1,halfmaster1

11298990 :brown:
Variation of: 11298876
Notes: Notice the pop on the arm. Is this repeatable?
Original design: halfmaster1
Dissection: halfmaster1
Use: pult retriever
Designs: [url=http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11296333]halfmaster1[\url]

11298502 :brown:
Variation of: none
Notes: This is pretty complicated. Notice the center of the arm.
Original design: txsbor25
Dissection: halfmaster1
Use: pult retriever, retriever
Designs:txsbor25

Hopefully this will grow fast. Post you mechanisms.

Proto's reflex quadrilateral
http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11301806
What makes the things recoil after the weight has fallen. :)

Been working on a new underpult
http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11378788 ?
http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11378812 ???

I also have an awesome idea that I think will work.
http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11378847 so kind of like this, except I'd build a simple retriever on it as well, so that you'd only have to use like a 4 piece brown weight. I'll show you what i mean.

Okay here's what I have: http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11378866 Nothing is supported to the base, it is all pushing down on the catapult so that I only have to use a 3 piece weight.
Better throw http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11378869
Here's the best I got with a 3 piece weight http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11378889

BOOM http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11378957

UNSUPPORTED BRIDGE:
Laying in bed last night I thought of a way to make a bridge that only requires beginning momentum, and stays up indefinately afterwords no matter how much weight is on the end. Came up with this: http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11401931
http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11401971 Here's how awesome it is.
without the mech http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11401985

Working on a way to do it with a double underbridge
http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11401958 Here. I demonstrated how rediculously sturdy it is by dropping two 20 piece weights on it.

Zhyrek did this: http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11377472
Blue and it spins forever, the only thing is it's really slow (and probably don't have much force to lift things or whatever)

EDIT: oh oops nvm lol :P

I was thinking something like this but dunno how it will work http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11405219

I can't assume full credit, I based the idea off the brace that camaro 09 used in this design:
