They are called 'ghost pieces'
you need to use the FCML editor if you want to make them. you can find it under: tools http://fc.sk89q.com/
click at: insert -> level objects -> Dynamic rectangle
it should say: DynamicRect (0, 0), (50, 50), 0 in the text box. you need to change one of the 50's into a 0. you need to decide which one because one will be diagonal and one vertical. you just need to click at upload if you're done, you will get a level with the name: Test.
You only can rotate the ghost pieces so you need to get the right length

Thanks alot Brian! It worked fine for me!!! Only one last question: would it be possible to upload an existing level to the FCLM editor, add the gost pieces, and then re-upload it to the game?

Go to your level editor for that level (http://fc.sk89q.com/level?levelId=xxxxx), click on Export.
Add your ghost piece, copy the whole screen (except for the top 3 lines) into the
FCML editor ( http://fc.sk89q.com/webfcml/ ).
Upload.

Very fun level!
Solve: http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11821778 That last part was probably the hardest to tweak. x.x

Have fun watching this :D actually an interesting challenge to come up with a bridge that would work without fail, the tweak the lifter afterwards.
Nevertheless, I think this bridge unfolded beautifully
http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11822533 solves at...a lot of ticks.

http://www.fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=11829914 as far as I can get without using a ton of pieces.
