But maybe check out this alternative rock band. They are relatively new: Armchair Cynics.

They just released their first album and it is pretty rock.

the only bands i can come up with that might match what you're looking for are Walk Away Alpha, In Flames, and... crap that's it from my stuff. I mostly listen to Black Metal
